In 1982, Hollywood took a turn at putting Mahatma Gandhi's life on film. The result is a poignant story about a man whose search for truth, at the deepest level, resulted in freedom for his country.

On the day he passed away, Gandhi held had no job, had held no political office, and focused on nothing grandiose other than the path of self-understanding. On that day, the country of India and indeed the world stopped to pay homage.
