A Bamboo Village in Vietnam

It was a part of Vietnam so heavily bombed by the Americans, it was known as the "Iron Triangle." Today, under the leadership of biologist Dr. Thiep Thi My Hanh, this rural region is transforming itself into the "Green Triangle" and is an internationally recognized model of sustainable development through the cultivation of local bamboo. "Where the environment is healthy, the people will be healthy," she says.
