Half of the small children in India are malnourished. To address this problem, the Government of India instituted a mid-day meal program that feeds over 120 million children every day - the largest school lunch program in the world. This NPR report for "All Things Considered" features the largest non-governmental partner in this program, Akshaya Patra, which provides over 1 million nutritious, freshly cooked meals for the cost of 11 cents per meal - a feat that combines engineering, logistics and corporate management with the emotional goal of nurturing a child's potential through education.
