With near constant exposure to visual media in our modern lives — from advertising and social platforms to magazines, television and film — our judgments about appearance, age, race, gender and disability are subtly, but profoundly, influenced on a day-to-day basis. In this short documentary, individuals explore the concept of a “sightless icebreaker” — where blindfolded strangers come together and discuss a series of questions. The founders of the project believe that by removing visual distractions, we can develop a deeper awareness of the thoughts we have about ourselves and others, thereby opening up more opportunities to connect, learn, grow and discover.
