Human beings start putting people in boxes the minute we see each other. â€‹Artist, activist, writer, speaker, actor, and social scientist iO Tillet Wright believes that these boxes and categories that we ascribe to people are too limiting and narrow - "they describe nothing that we see and no one that we know and nothing that we are." Spurred into activism by the marriage equality debate in the United States, Wright set out to photograph 10,000 faces of people who saw themselves as anything but 100% "straight" with the goal of showing the humanity that exists in every one of us through the simplicity of a face.
