When Sophie and James began to lose their sight, their mothers gained a new vision. Neither Sophie nor James are completely blind, but their limited vision would normally exclude them from mainstream schooling. Determined to create a sense of independence in their children, their mothers, Lee Lay Hong and Dr. Audrey Looi helped established the iC2 Prephouse. The institute works to teach visually impaired students life skills to cope with their limited sight. Those include independent living skills and assistive technology. By smoothing the transition, James and Sophie can continue to develop and grow in their journeys with newfound confidence and dignity in their abilities to be self-sufficient.
