Sam Schmid was in a coma for two months after a horrific 5-car accident. His injuries included, among other things, a brain aneurysm, stroke, and severe brain injury. In what was termed a Christmas "miracle," Schmid "woke up" as his doctors were discussing pulling his life support systems. He had to re-learn everything, including how to swallow, speak, and walk. After two and a half years of intensive - 40 hours/week - speech, physical, and occupational therapy, Schmid is back in school and able to work. His advice? Never give up - find the miracle within you.
