Yamile Jackson's son, Zach, was born at 28 weeks, weighing less than 2 pounds. During the 5 months he spent in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), he was never without the scent of his parents via soft garden gloves filled with beads and beans that his parents slept with in order to impart their scent. The nurses noticed how much calmer Zach was when he was in contact with the gloves. Three weeks after Zach went home, a nurse called to ask if Jackson could make gloves for the entire nursery, and "the Zaky" was born.
