Community policing is a different kind of police work. In the past, the only tool police officers had at their disposal in dealing with complaints about people living on the streets was the penal code. Now, officers in the Houston Police Department's Homeless Outreach team work with outreach organizations to help the homeless find housing, healthcare, food, obtain identity cards and find jobs. This video reveals the motivation of some of the officers working in this unit, including Sergeant Steve Wick. "I have two friends in this world. One is Mr. Wick and one is my cat."
