Hannah Brencher's mother always wrote her letters. So when she felt herself experiencing severe loneliness and depression after moving to the city of her dreams, she began writing in her journal the type of messages she used to receive from her mother. A chance, silent, encounter on a New York City subway led her to writing love letters and leaving them all around New York for people to find. She posted on her blog, promising to write a love letter to anyone who needed it. And 400 letters later, "The World Needs More Love Letters" was born.
