Shivani Bhalla, a fourth-generation Kenyan, knows that the future of the nation's lions is in the community's hands. That's why she runs Ewaso Lions, a lion conservation organization in Samburu, a region in northern Kenya. "Lion conservation is about coexistence, how lions and people live together," Bhalla says. Through a team of young tribal warriors, word is spreading about why it's important to continue to have lions in Kenya. Bhalla is now monitoring the highest number of lions that Samburu has seen in the last 12 years.
