"Homeboy Industries provides hope, training, and support to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated men and women allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members of our community. Each year over 10,000 former gang members from across Los Angeles come through Homeboy Industries’ doors in an effort to make a positive change. They are welcomed into a community of mutual kinship [and] love...Full-time employment is offered for more than 200 men and women at a time through an 18-month program that helps them re-identify who they are in the world, offers job training so they can move on from Homeboy Industries and become contributing members of the community - knowing they count!"

Action, not words. It gives me hope and refreshes my faith in human beings.

wow issue is in the core philosophies of hierarchy, consider how the system was set up by those wishing to keep their "right" to wealth and power. Silly human BS..However with education and a new story of what it means to be human in relationship to "life" itself..then we will be free to start the new story..this time with greater meaning and potential for all.

Another example of "deeds speaking louder than words!" Way to go. We are changing our world one committed and inspired action at a time. Yes, EVERY life matters. Heartfelt kudos! Namasté!

I believe that no lives matter less than other lives! I am inspired to see that belief being successfully into action.

Just read "Barking to the Choir" THe power of radical kinship, Greg Boyle's new book on Homeboy Industries. Many vignettes, most inspiring. His spirituality and theology is right on. IF more of us were like him the world would be transformed. Let's do it!

The love for others who have not had a safe supporting family or community as a child. Love is the key for everything.

Very inspiring! Why do we not show this kind of work in the world on nightly news rather than all the negative things which inundate our eyes and ears!

Rachels comment is veracious and I implore every one to read "Stop Eating The Animals" by Jerry H Parisella. The courage of each being in this video to speak up for what they believe is right for themselves and others is inspiring for me. Let us all courageously use our own voices to end the unprovoked murder of the voiceless. "An act of cruelty to an animal is as bad as an act of cruelty to a human" - The Prophet Mohammed

Everything! I have long been singing the praises of Father Greg and his work with the homies! This is an amazing ministry that I am glad and proud to support.

Ca, Md, LA, Fl and many other places.Where is Father G? With their training many of these homeless can find employment through their programs. I just tweeted this to about 750 friends

Great Great work. Gregory Boyles wrote a fabulous book Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion some years ago. I am now working in an innovative prison program called Insight Garden Program in part from the inspiration of this work. Many thanks for seeing us ALL as human and seeing everyone's radiance.

I love to see such a program that succeeds on so many levels. Wish we could implement this in all cities nationwide.
