At the Intergenerational Learning Center, pre-school children get a chance to interact with older adults who they might not otherwise encounter. "This is hard work, and it takes commitment to what we're doing here", says Marie Hoover, director of the Intergenerational Learning Center. "Those kids are being exposed at a very young age to be comfortable with older adults", says Charlene Boyd, Administrator of Providence Mt. St. Vincent. Some of the parents of these kids can recall a time when their grandparents were in assisted living facilities that they were afraid to visit at the time. Their own children will have a different experience interacting with vulnerable seniors.
