Dennis "Tree" Rubenstein sees a problem. Housing prices in San Francisco are rising. Massive numbers are moving to the area, taking advantage of the technology boom. The homeless population is rising and "it's hard for people with little money or free spirited people to live here." In response he helped found the Free Farm Stand. Here volunteers bring produce collected from a variety of sources. Then every Sunday they share their bounty, free of charge, to any who turn up. 28 tons of local food was distributed by the stand between 2009 and 2015.
