One day, fourteen-year old Allyson Ahlstrom read a book about young people doing service projects around the world. That same evening, she decided to hold a meeting organizing a one-time clothing drive. Today, Allyson and her mother run Threads for Teens, a clothing boutique whose mission is not only to clothe, but also to empower at-risk youth. “When girls come to Threads for Teens,” says Allyson, “I hope that they feel that they are loved, that they are important, that they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, that they can accomplish anything that they set their minds to.” Allyson’s story is one of simple beginnings and unforeseen unfoldings; watch this short video and prepare to be amazed by how far Threads for Teens’ mission has gone.
