What do singing, fracking, and nuns have to do with each other? Absolutely nothing! At least that’s exactly what the Sisters of Loretto have to say—or sing—about it. Nestled in almost 800 acres of peaceful Kentucky farmland, the Loretto Motherhouse is home to a small order of nuns who, in learning about the proposal to build a pipeline running from Pennsylvania to the Gulf of Mexico and through their land, took up to singing their protest—for their own land and that of others. Their voice had a powerful effect, one that can remind us that sometimes, power lies in unexpected places and by unexpected means.
