Flint, Michigan has been in the news lately because of the presence of lead in the water. However, there are good things happening that are not getting as much attention. Even before the water crisis, there were multiple volunteer organizations in Flint, helping to make a difference and build up the city. Nonprofits are coming together to help rebuild the community. One organization in particular, Service Year Corps, is helping to tutor young children and build their self-esteem. The Flint model for non-profits gained national attention and the city became a Service Year Impact Community. The city is currently in recovery mode from the water crisis, and the local nonprofits are making a huge impact.
