Middletown, Ohio was once a booming manufacturing town. However, industry restructured and jobs began to decline at an astonishing rate in the 1960s. During the 2016 presidential campaign, journalists presented Middletown as a part of the "depressed" and “dying America.” This is not how Ami Vitori remembered her home town. The passion and love she felt for Middletown was so deep that she cashed in her savings and moved back from Washington, DC to help revive the town and rebuild the "American Dream" for her family and community.
