Pune is a city in western India with a population of over 3 million people. It is known for manufacturing and industry, information technology and universities. It also contains a niche where one can find respite from the stresses of modern life. The Farm is a project of the Protecterra Ecological Foundation. Since 2010 it has provided this space where visitors can "relax, refresh, and rejuvenate." There are dogs, cats, goats, and plenty of wildlife to visit, a 2,500 square foot organic farm, rustic sleeping places, and a community kitchen. There is also a community of people who believe that being kind to yourself automatically translates into a desire to be kind to the Earth. They are guided by a desire for "Love, Awareness, and Learning." Travelers can walk nature trails, participate in guided meditation and yoga, attend workshops, and make pottery. If you plan to stay awhile you can rent a patch of land and grow your own crops. The dream is that people will leave this quiet retreat and take its mission with them. Perhaps then we can start to heal our ailing world.
