Everybody deserves a second chance. For Chef Jeff Bacon, this came after he was arrested in 1993 for drug-related charges. Following his two-year sentence in prison, he wanted to give others the same second chance he got. He started a program that helps people learn new skills so that they could be employed long-term in the food industry. The program teaches participants skills in all aspects of culinary arts and the food that is prepared is served to those in the community who are suffering from poverty and hunger. The food bank allows program participants to help combat hunger while the program itself helps prevent food insecurity by employing those who may not have jobs elsewhere.
