How far would you go to invent something for the greater good that no one else believed in but you? Would you be willing to risk losing your family and friends and be ostracized by society? Arunachalam Muruganantham is a humble man from a small village in south India with a lot of perseverance and conviction. He is the inventor of a low-cost machine that makes affordable sanitary napkins for women across India. In the process of developing this invention, Arunachalam was not only deserted by his family and friends, but he was ousted from his village. Today Arunachalam’s invention employs women that run these machines and is significantly helping to reduce reproductive diseases that are caused by poor menstrual hygiene.
