We all want to be happy. What is the connection between happiness and gratitude? It seems pretty simple - when you are happy, you are grateful. But think again. We all know people who have everything a person could want, but are not happy - they want more.  We also know people who have suffered misfortune, and yet are happy. How can that be? It is gratefulness that makes you happy, and not the other way around. We hold the master key to our happiness in our own hands. Watch this TED talk in which Brother David Steindl-Rast teaches us a simple method for living gratefully moment by moment.

What inspired me most about this video was Ted's simple message to stop, find the quietness within you, and be in the moment to accept the opportunity presented. We have the opportunity to experience and learn from what is presented to us, whether it is something we find agreeable, or something quite difficult. If an opportunity is missed, another will come along. In our hurried world, the stop spoke to me, followed by look. To look or to see through all of our senses, and then to go, to do. Very powerful.

Here's to being grateful, it can change nearly everything. "Every moment is an opportunity." This was helpful, to realize we do not need to hold on so tightly perhaps to one particular moment in concern that another moment may not appear. This was liberating. And yes to Stop. Look. Go. To take the time to see all we have to be grateful for. So many of us are richer beyond rich with all we have access to: clean water from a faucet, electricity, etc. To not take this for granted. If you are grateful you act out of a sense of enough and are willing to share and you see the beauty in differences, yes!!!! Thank you!
