Every year, 350 billion pieces of disposable plastic cutlery and wooden chopsticks are discarded in the United States, Japan and India. Research scientist Narayana Peesapaty has come up with a solution: edible cutlery and chopsticks. These products are made of millet, rice and wheat, contain no preservatives, and have a shelf life of 3 years. They will also decompose in 3 to 7 days (unless they are eaten). The use of this cutlery is not only healthier (plastics leach toxins), but promotes environmental, economic and social justice. Find out how.

SUPER SUPER product! I'm going to look the company up on the internet, and hope that I can buy the spoons, and have them shipped to me, abroad. One note to Mr. Peesapaty: if he can make a version without wheat, I can try to get my gluten-sensitive friends to try it, too. SUPER SUPER SUPER!

Sometimes the finest solutions come from such simple sources. We already eat the taco and tortilla that not only contains our food but is part of the meal. The jump to edible utensils, bowls, and plates seems just plain common sense. Wonderful!

The man was so kind.He cares about the earth. It showed in his body language. The idea is wonderful. We aren't eating toxins,or throwing things in the landfills that won't decompose. Maybe it could be ground up to use in animal food. He is actively trying to heal the earth.

What a brilliant idea, understandably it has to be cost effective to motivate a change over and also governments must impose additional tax for manufacturing plastic cutlery and at the same time provide incentives to manufacture the edible variety.
