How often do you think about where your food comes from? Who planted the seeds? Who watered and cared for the plants? Who harvested the produce? When most of us eat a salad we have no idea where the lettuce, cucumbers, or carrots originated. Judy Lucas says “Most immigrants are invisible to us…. We don’t see them as people who have real needs and real families.” Following a fire in 2013 that left 23 immigrant families homeless, she founded Friends of Field Workers to help this unseen community rebuild. The non profit organization continues to provide aid and friendship to immigrant families.
