On Midway Island in the North Pacific, 2000 miles from the nearest continent, a heartbreaking story of destruction is unfolding. This trailer for the documentary by Chris Jordan points out in striking images how Albatross parents feed their young plastic that is floating in the ocean, mistaking it as food, contributing to the death of these beautiful birds. The film asks, "Do we have the courage to face the realities of our time, and allow ourselves to feel deeply enough that it transforms us and our future?"

As a mariner I have crossed the Pacific many times, the amount of trash that I have seen over the years is hard to comprehend, and it IS getting worse. I have been on beaches from the Aleutian chain to Tahiti, and none have been trash free. We, the humans of the world, are killing ourselves slowly, change we must, or die we will.
