In 2012 Balpreet Kaur, an aspiring neurosurgeon and practicing Sikh woman, wrote a remarkable response to a tasteless post on Reddit that mocked her appearance. In her letter Kaur explained the tenets of the religion underlying her turban and facial hair. Her poised and gracious response went viral, eventually leading to an apology and a deeply inspiring lesson to the world on tolerance. In this TEDx talk, Kaur speaks passionately about the power of our individual stories, the role of interfaith dialogue, and the universal need for kindness. "Kindness is a state of being rather than a singular act," Kaur said, "And in this state I truly believe we can change the world and we will change the world."
