Violence and homelessness impact every aspect of the lives of children living in homeless shelters. Teacher Jennifer Cox noticed that the at-risk kids she works with are not engaging with their school work because they do not feel worthy of accomplishing their goals and succeeding at what they set out to do. This inspired her to start Empower 410 Inc, also known as Empower For Life. The organization works with kids in homeless shelters to engage them in physical activities that leads to the teaching of other life skills that will allow them to make healthy, sound decisions despite their stressful life situations.
